Completed in June 2017 The Leonard Charles Building on Oxford Street Swansea, is a former department store which Morganstone redeveloped into residential and commercial units in partnership with Coastal Housing Group. The scheme consists of; thirty-two apartments, a ground floor commercial unit, and an underground car-park.

The original building was a four storey steel and concrete frame located on a busy street close to the city centre. The remaining area of the ground floor is a commercial unit that was fitted out to shell and core stage only.

The scheme is part of the Urban Quarter which is intended to introduce more quality, modern shop units and affordable homes to the street, to build a new community of businesses and people.

Coastal Housing Group said the first phase fronting the High Street would provide three small shop units with 27 rented apartments above. The new homes will all be affordable rents for people in housing need, with no units for sale.
The second phase, facing over the Strand, will follow in about 12 months’ time. The steel structure for this phase is already visible and when complete, will provide a further 30 flats.
